This past weekend we had the opportunity to deliver one of the most beautiful wedding cakes to The Garrison http://thegarrison.com/
Nestled in the Hudson Highlands, The Garrison is situated on a beautiful golf course overlooking what I believe is the most stunning scenery in New York State. The venue holds around 200 guests and is about an hour north of Manhattan.
Our clients chose The Garrison for its the scenery and its use of local and seasonal ingredients in its really delicious cuisine, along with the impeccable service extended to its clients.
While a wedding cake is included in the meal package, our clients decided to treat their guests to something special, both in cake design and cake flavors. Both of our clients are pasty graduates from The Culinary Institute of America so the taste of their cake was of utmost importance to them.
For their cake flavors, our clients chose Chocolate Cake with a Raspberry Buttercream and Raspberry Compote, along with a Banana Walnut Cake with a Maple Cream Cheese filling. I absolutely love the use of a fruited cake as a wedding cake flavor, especially one that can span the seasons (unlike Pumpkin - which tends to be specific to fall weddings).
Our clients had a specific design in mind that would include just a touch of warm gold. This warm gold mixed beautifully with their fall colored sugar flowers, as well as the table centerpieces by Jenny's Floral Design https://www.jennysfloraldesign.com/
Mostly what I love about their cake is the stunning colors and sizes of their sugar peonies. The placement of the sugar flowers is very different and makes this wedding cake stand out from the norm. I hope you love it as much as I do!
